The PlanBuild Tasmania portal is being rolled out iteratively.
As an organisation adopts PlanBuild Tasmania, you will be able to lodge applications directly to organisations in that municipality.
Existing processes will remain for all councils and other organisations, until they adopt PlanBuild Tasmania for the lodgement of applications.
PlanBuild Tasmania will be continually engaging with these organisations as part of the long term development of the portal.
What is PlanBuild Tasmania?
PlanBuild Tasmania provides a centralised solution that brings Councils, industry professionals and property owners together in managing the end-to-end development application process efficiently and effectively.
It will facilitate the approval process for planning, building, plumbing, and related environmental and public health applications.
The portal provides a convenient central point of enquiry for relevant planning, building and plumbing information to support any development project.
Applicants can track the status of their applications and submit and receive information, all in one location.
Why would I use PlanBuild Tasmania?
Through a centralised and easy to use web-based portal, PlanBuild Application Services, allows people to apply, track and interact with the relevant parties for the life of a project relating to planning, building, plumbing and environmental and public health application processes across the state.
It has been developed in consultation with local government, industry, referral authorities, including TasWater and Heritage Tasmania, to ensure it is fit-for-purpose for all who will use it, delivering a consistent, transparent and streamlined process to all users.
Using PlanBuild Tasmania users can:
- submit applications
- pay fees
- purchase a Certificate of Title
- track the status of an application
- upload documents as needed
- receive notifications
- receive any permits issued.
How do I get support?
PlanBuild Tasmania's support pages have a range of resources and information available to assist users and their clients using the system.
The self help and training guides provide eLearning modules, quick reference guides and application guides for users. In-built help is available to assist users to navigate and manage applications as wells as providing additional detail to assist in completing applications, select the questions mark (?) icon which are available throughout the system.

PlanBuild Tasmania supports councils and referral authority processes, however the role of assessing and approving applications sits with the relevant organisation.
