Design Matters National Hobart Design Q&A

On Monday 29th August 2022 Design Matters National held a Design Q&A forum in Hobart.

Three standalone seminars designed specifically for Building Designers and Home Energy Assessors in Tasmania gave industry insights into new products, services and legislative changes impacting designers.

The program for the day included:

11am – How to Design Healthier, Drier and Warmer Homes?

Presented by Robert Sebek, Technical Specifications Manager at Kingspan. This session aimed to give a deeper understanding around insulation and how to build or renovate a home to achieve a 7-star energy rating.

1pm – Changes in Construction: How will this impact me as a designer?

Presented by Benjamin Price, Assistant Director Policy and Stakeholder Engagement at CBOS. This session provided an update on ongoing regulatory reforms which impact the building and construction sector.

2pm – Planning Zones & Codes: Are we using the right ones?

Presented by Toby Whitton, Project Delivery Officer at PlanBuild Tasmania. This session introduced the PlanBuild Tasmania Project, and how the new PlanBuild Enquiry service can be used to see what planning zones and codes apply to any specific Tasmanian property.

For those properties that fall under the Tasmanian Planning Scheme, PlanBuild Tasmania provides a comprehensive Guided Enquiry service, including identifying planning, building and plumbing rules that may apply to a proposed project.
